Data
Services
The key to any management system is data
accuracy. Even the best management system is limited if the
data it manages is incorrect or incomplete. Therefore, all
OptiCon implementation projects begin with an effective
database creation and maintenance plan.
While some
companies are well staffed to internally manage these data
efforts, most are not. This is especially true for the massive
amounts of disparate data that currently exists in various,
non-linked systems.
Fortunately, OptiCon Systems
provides a full range of Data Services to assist customers
with specific phases of their database creation or with entire
turnkey data management solutions. Using our OptiCon experts
and highly automated procedures, we can complete your database
with unsurpassed speed and accuracy at the lowest possible
cost.
OptiCon Data Services projects are based
on a four step process.
-
Collection—All data collection and
consolidation activities are performed during this
phase.Data includes all electronic and hard copy files
residing in various systems and formats that relate to any
network components, outside plant mapping, inside plant
layouts, connectivity and circuit traffic. A process for
handling ongoing data changes is also established.
-
Capture—Once data is collected, it is
electronically captured in an OptiCon compatible format
using various off-the-shelf and proprietary applications.
Our goal is to eliminate as much manual data entry and
digitizing as possible. Conversion—After data is
electronically captured, it is then converted and migrated
into a single OptiCon database.
-
Confirmation—During the confirmation phase,
all OptiCon data is automatically checked for accuracy and
completeness using proprietary applications and logic. When
incorrect, incomplete or discrepant data is found, OptiCon
Systems can provide on-site data and field audits to verify
actual data.
Database
Maintenance In many cases,
completed OptiCon databases are turned over to the customer
for day-to-day management. In others, OptiCon Systems
personnel are contracted to maintain customer data on an
ongoing basis. To perform this ongoing maintenance, OptiCon
resources can have remote access to the customer’s data server
or OptiCon Systems can host the entire application on its own
web accessible server.
