Paul J. Aiello - Chief Executive Officer and Director
Mr. Aiello was appointed CEO of Opticon Systems, Inc. and President of its subsidiary PowerCon Systems effective October 19, 2009, bring9ng to Opticon Systems over 25 years of telecommunications, technology and energy related business experience. Immediately prior to joining Opticon Systems, Mr. Aiello served as Senior Vice President and COO of GoVertical Communications. Previously, Mr. Aiello served as Vice President of Sales & Business Operations for Progress Energy’s telecommunications subsidiary, Progress Telecom, and held various executive positions with Williams Energy’s Williams Communications and Wiltel business units, including Vice President of Global Sales, Vice President of Strategic & Government Accounts, Vice President of Outsourcing and General Manager. He has also held executive management positions at NEC, Intecom, Inc., and the RCA Corporation. Mr. Aiello holds a BA degree in Political Science from the State University of New York at Albany.
Mr. Francis E. Vegliante - Senior Vice President of International Sales
Mr. Vegliante was appointed Senior Vice President of International Sales for Opticon Systems, Inc. effective September 1, 2009. He has held Executive Sales and Marketing positions spanning twenty-five years in the communications industry, and has specialized in International expansion for two decades. Most recently, Mr. Vegliante was Vice President, Channel Marketing, for TriStar Communications’ offering 100 mega bandwidth fiber optic solutions and VoIP broadband hybrid solutions. Previously, he was a member of the start-up team at Burst.com and where he had global P&L responsibility and established 85 channels of distribution in the streaming video markets in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. Mr. Vegliante also held executive positions at DocuPoint Corp., Paradyne Corp. and Motorola Communications Corp. Mr. Vegliante holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tampa, and studied International Trade at Yale University in New Haven, CT.
David A. McCarthy - VP Corporate Development
Mr. McCarthy was appointed Vice President of Corporate Development, of OptiCon Systems, Inc., and Vice President of its subsidiary PowerCon Systems effective September 1, 2009. Dave brings 15 years of developing strategic partners for independently funded projects to Opticon and PowerCon. Most recently, Mr. McCarthy was Director of Business Development for TeamZoneSports, an e-commerce startup, marketing internet web development for athletic associations and educational facilities. Prior to this, Mr. McCarthy was Director of Sales and Business Development at The Lending Group where he took over a struggling division and grew the Southeast region's sales volume from $60 Million to $180 million annually. McCarthy has a proven track record in business development in the e-commerce and finance industries. He has managed wholesale broker networks, and through his creative use of innovative technologies to replace legacy systems, increased revenue. He has been involved in the launch of multiple start-up divisions and companies, successfully establishing national marketing partners, securing investment capital, and creating new market opportunities and brand development. Mr. McCarthy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Marquette University.
John Verghese - Director of Product Development
John is a seasoned telecommunication expert with over 20 years of experience, including 3+ outside the US, building and operating local and wide area networks. Well rounded in all the functional areas of the telecom industry from planning, engineering, and operations to sales and customer support. Prior to joining PowerCon Systems, John was Vice President of Planning and Engineering for Tower Cloud, Inc., a company that addressed the backhaul needs of large wireless providers. Previous to that John worked in various capacities for Pregress Telecom, a subsidiary of Pregress Energy. John was the key individual responsible for planning and engineering the Progress Telecom's broadband network between Miami and New York which included over 9,000 fiber route miles, 30 metro networks and 240 POPs. Network technologies included Optical Systems such as CWDM/DWDM and SONET, Digital Cross-connect Systems, Ethernet, Microwave and Gigabit Routers. While with the power company, John helped in the standardization of fiber based intelligent communication system to manage the electrical grid of Florida Power Corporation in the late 1990s.
Jeff Hoke - Founder
For over 20 years, Jeff has successfully managed various technologies, projects and businesses within the telecom, IT and defense industries. He returned to OptiCon Systems as President in June 2007. Since 2005, Jeff has also served as Global Product Line Manager for Corning Cable Systems where he manages a fiber optic component business that generates almost $400 million of direct and vertically integrated sales annually. Jeff founded OptiCon Systems in 2004 and actively managed the company until its acquisition in 2005. In addition, he managed the OptiCon business within Corning Cable Systems from its infancy in 1996 until its divestiture in 2004. During this time, Jeff gained critical market and product knowledge by holding positions as a Sales & Marketing Specialist, Product Development & Operations Manager and ultimately General Manager of the OptiCon venture. Jeff earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and also has over 10 years experience developing state-of-the-art systems and LEAN methodologies for the telecom and defense industries.
Christino L. Perez - Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Perez was appointed Chief Financial Officer and Director of OptiCon and its parent company, Hathaway Corporation, effective January 1, 2007. From September 2003 until the present, Mr. Perez has been self-employed as an independent consultant. Previously, Mr. Perez served as Chief Financial Officer, Secretary, Treasurer and Director of Resolve Staffing, Inc., a publicly traded company from October 2001 until September 2003. From October 1999 to June 2002, Mr. Perez was employed by Baumann, Raymondo & Company, P.A., Certified Public Accountants, with primary responsibilities for development of accounting and auditing services to small publicly held enterprises. Mr. Perez earned a BA degree in Accounting from the University of South Florida.
